Step-parent adoption in Illinois - Help, please
My son is 10 and know my husband since he was 1 and 1/2 years old. My husband and I are married since June 2001 and we've been together since September 1998.
We want my husband to adopt my son but we don't know where to start and also if we really need an attorney or not for the process. Any input is greatly appreciated. BirthMom08 |

Is the birth father on your son's birth certificate? Does he pay child support? Is he in your son's life i.e. Does he have visitation?

The birth father isn't on the birth certificate. They actually never met. I gave birth in France and that's where the birth father lives. I don't have contact at all with him. He went to prison right after the pregnancy news. That was in 1996. In 2001, I came in the USA and married my now husband I met in germany, in 1998.
I've never contacted the birth father in all those years. Thanks. BirthMom08 |
