Stepparent Adoption Info

I think I posted something like this a LONG time back but here it goes again. (sorry for the repeat)

My fiance and I will be married this year and he absolutely adores my daughter and she him and we all get on great. She is really excited for him to be her "Daddy" as in reality she has none. My ex b/f, her birth father, decided to relinquish his rights upon her birth (which is rare but was granted).
Now later on, my fiance (then husband) is interested in adopting my daughter (we both like the idea and both talked about it). My daughter is 4 and I have also discussed it with her and she is excited (but being 4 doesn't completely understand of course).

Does anyone know if since her birth father is not legally tied to her (relinquishment) that we don't need any permission from him anymore correct?

Any advice on general in regards to stepparent adoption?

btw this would be something we would not rush into and wait a year or two as this year we will be dealing with immigration and greencards as my fiance is immigrating from England.

Thanks for the info in advance!

If the BF's right's have legally been relenquished then he has no obligation to your DD. You do not need his permission.

You should be just fine!! Check with your attorney if you are concerned.

I've been trying to get my ex to relinquish his rights so my hubby can adopt my younger daughter. Of course the Ex has been fighting it. My Judge wants evidence proving this is the best thing for DD before he will agree to a Termination/Adoption. It should be easy to do in my case.

In Blind Faith,

I've been hoping for an update on your case...

Has BF actually shown up for court dates or is this all correspondence? Does he have an attorney?

Is the court going to assign an investigator to interview/evaluate?

Keep me updated. I can't wait for the good news that it's done!
