Seeking Info About NC Step Parent Adoption
My husband and I married in August. He wants to adopt my daughter. We have lived together for over 3 years. My daughter is 7, and he is daddy to her. I have a 5-Year Civil Protection Order Against My Husband that does not allow him around her or myself untill 2009. We are seeking an attorney's help in declaring abandonment due to unpaid child support, or to revoke his parental rights due to past history/abuse. Does anyone have a similar situation, or overcome this situation? What can I expect? -Worst and best case?

You and your husband need to be married for at least one year before you can apply for a stepparent adoption.
