Step parent adoption forms
Hi everyone! What a bunch of unique stituations we all seem to have. Does anyone have the forms that are needed for a step parent adoption? We posted a message before, but haven't heard anything back about that. All I have are the relinquishing of the parental rights forms. I hear that the process will go much better by a judge if you file both at the same time, because they at least know that somebody is stepping up to take on the children if they terminate the others' rights against their will. My ex husband has up and disappeared in Oregon, and we live in Nevada. We still have to wait a bit to let NEvada take over jurisdiction on the Oregon custody/support case and have rights terminated for ababndonment, but I just wanna be prepared! Anyone have any stories of sucess that have not used an attorney for the whole process? They can sure get expensive! We have done consults with a couple, but they seem to think it would be relatively simple. We could post a notice in a local law journal giving my ex notice that we are filing to term his rights for an adoption, and with no response in thirty days, I', told that the judge SHOULD just go ahead with it. Any sucess stories?

This site has the forms you are looking for. It is a CA web site but I am pretty sure the forms are the same. They don't say anything about CA on them.
They are on Adobe format and can actually be filled out on the computer and then printed out. http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/selfhelp...adoptforms.htm Check the laws in your county because you usually have to show proof that you really tried to make contact with the BF before the judge will allow you to place an add/notice. Good luck! |
