Hi, new here. I want to adopt my fiance's son...he is over a year old and I have been helping raise him since he was 6 months old. The bio father doesn't come around and doesn't pay any child support....his name isn't on the birth certificate either. We know he wont sign over his rights...just because....so I am trying to find out how to adopt without notifying him. We are getting married on July 29th and I want to start the adoption proceedings right away. Is it possible that we can terminate his rights for abandonment? Im also aware that the courts may make us wait one year from marriage but I heard that sometimes they will be more lenient on that. Im just not sure.....please help.

well, if you are willin to adopt and the biological father is not allowed+ he no longer pays for the child support, then I dont see why they wont let you adopt.
