question regarding terminating bmothers rights
Here's the deal...we live in WA, bmom lives in Alaska. Bmom wants me to adopt the baby (she has 8 other kids). How do we go about terminating her rights so that I can adopt? She will sign papers, and doesn't plan on putting up any fight since she is the one that suggested I adopt the baby. Do we file for termination of parental rights in a WA court or an AK court? Do we need a lawyer for this or is it something we can do on our own?
Also, for the actual adoption...can we do that ourselves or do we need a lawyer? Any help is appreciated. |

Hi there,
I don't know which one you should file in, but I would start by calling your local courthouse and getting some answers that way. Is the child with you now? or with biomom? I definately wouldn't wait very long. Good luck, Lisa
