Anyone know about "Grandparent Waiver"

I have to write a judgment to waive notice to paternal grandparents. I have a sample of a petition to waive notice to grandparents but confused on how to rephrase it into a judgment. Anyone familiar with this? (husband is adopting son from my former relationship.)

Well, the judgment would be similar to any other Judgment in your state but just spell out that the petition is to waive notice to grandparents. I presume that you have a petition for the adoption (and a corresponding judgement).

You might also stop by a law library for your state.

Just heard from the clerk that judge has denied the judgment to waive notice because my reasons were insufficient. I stated in the judgment that the paternal grandparents hadn't seen my son since 1999 . . .I rephrased it to say that the paternal grandparents hadn't attempted to make contact with petitioners or set up visitation with child since 1999 and that petitioners have had the same phone number since 1998. I'm hoping that's sufficient info. What do you guys think? Apparently there has to be just cause to waive notice. Anyone else have suggestions on what their just cause was? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks Tim. R

well, I'd look in your statues for the law on notice in adoption proceedings- perhaps there's a section on who needs to have notice and the possible reasons that notice can be waived.

Any particular reason that you don't want to give the grandparents notice of the adoption (presuming that they're someone who's supposed to receive notice).

In my state, only the biological parents are supposed to have notice - along with any child-placing agency, or the state if the child(ren) are wards of the state.

Good Luck.
