Unhappy Hearing in 2 days

My husband and I will be in court in two days to try and prove there are grounds for termination on my son's biological dad's rights. He hasn't contacted me to see our son since Dec. 2000 however he has paid child support (certainly not regularly). According to the state statutes in Wisconsin 6 months or more of no attempt to contact the child is abandonment, and we have by far surpassed that. And now the BF is now trying to say he was there for the birth and all of my dr. appts while pregnant, I wish I would have known that. Now I realize all of the lies we will be up against in court this week. Has anyone been in a similar situation and had it work out in there favor, I sure feel like the odds are against us! I just wish he could realize that signing off is what is best for our son.

Hi,

I'm sorry I have no help for you. I just wanted to bump this up so others may be able to help you.

Good luck at the hearing.

Michelle

He'll have to prove his lies by showing telephone records of phone calls to your child, cancelled checks he paid to you, receipts of plane tickets he purchased to visit, pictures of him with the baby/child, etc.

If he's unable to produce any of this proof, the court will certainly put less credibility in what he's claiming.
