hello.. my name is nikki and i live in DC. my son has just turned three. .his biological father never wanted anything to do with him. he doesnt know his bday or his name or anything.. ive been married now for over a yr and have another baby.. my husband wants to adopt my son and make him his legally. how do we go about this??? also does my sons biological father need to be involved in the process or not?? any advice would be appreciated.. thank you.

it is different in all states but in ca you start by getting the forms in for adoption at your court house. fill them out file them in ca it costs 220.00 for the adoption and investigation. then probation department, gets the info sends you a letter on info they need, then you have the home visit then the hearing. is the biodad on the birth cert? i think in both ways on the cert or not i think he has to sign his rights away, you shouldnt have a problem if he dosnt even know him.its totally abandonment and no child support right!!
