Where do we start
I have a 4yrs old son. The man that I'm with is the only person he has ever known as daddy. He is not bi-daddy. Son does not know this now and will not for along time. We want him to adopt him but I don't know where to start. We live in MO
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Are you married to the man that you are with? If not, that would be your first step and then be married for at least a year otherwise the courts will not even consider it.

Do you know who the birth father is? If so, you will need to know his where abouts. After you get married and have been for over a year then you need to file for termination of parental rights along with the adoption. The courts will not consider termination with out an adoption on the horizan from the research I have seen. Check your state laws on adoption the should list the steps to get started.
