new father
Hi all my name is Kim and i live in northern california.I have a couple questions...My husband of 5 years wants to adopt my daughter. My daughter knows she has to dads, but my hubbys is her father(confused yet? lol).Anyway,we have had no contact with bio-dad for over 3years .He lives out of state.Do i still have to jump through all the hoops of terminating parental rights or has he forfietted them by not contacting us or sending support? Ok one more ... how hard can he fight to stop adoption preceedings? Hes has not given any monetary support or been there emotionally for over 7 years!! Am i at fault for not contacting him or fighting for support( we really dont need it) . thank you for reading .

You shouldn't have to difficult of a time getting his rights termed. Have you asked him if he would sign the paperwork? If he did this voluntarily that would save a lot of time and money on your part. If not you will have to jump through a few hoops but they will be just formalities.
