need help in Idaho
My husband of 5 years would like to adopt my 6 yr son, the problem is my sons father. His father has dropped out of sight and is denying that he even has a child (we have mutual friends, he just doesn't know) he pays court ordered child support most of the time but he works for his family and they think since we are in another state and the father has chose not to see my son in over 3 years that he shouldn't pay so they don't send the child support in when it is due. there is a law in the state where the father lives that if he doesn't contact me or my son for 6 months that it is considered abandonment and he loses his rights. I spoke with a lawyer about this but because the father pays child support occosionaly my son isn't considered abandoned. my son doesn't even know about his real father. my husband and i met when he was 10 months old. does anyone have any suggestions?

If the father has not been around for that long, he may give up his rights. With Idaho laws taking licenses for failure to pay many will, unless it is a personal issue , and he is paying often enough to not lose anything. All I can suggest is ask, maybe with the same amount of contact he has now, which sounds like none, he would let your husband adopt. A big maybe, but who knows, Teresa
