Illinois Laws (waiting Period)
Does anyone know how long after we get married that we have to wait before I can adopt my fiances son? We are in IL.

Stepparent adoption
Here is a website I found with some infor on the laws for IL. I am not sure how long the waiting period is. I thought there was one here in Minnesota but I am not sure. We have been married for 6 months and we are almost done with ours. They never mentioned a time frame. I have heard 6 months. I know it is 1 year for a regular adoption. I hope this helps.
