Son adopting new wifes Daughter

This probably isn't the right place to post this, but I really don't know where I would ask this question. My son married a sweet lady three years ago. He loves her daughter as he loves his own, they decided adoption would be the best as the littles girls Daddy has no interest in her(in fact after he signed her away he called them on the phone weekly to see if the adoption had gone through yet so he could stop child support payments)

Anyways the adoption is to become final within the next week or so and I would like to buy her a gift...to celebrate her new name and new Daddy. She is 6 years old and just a sweety...she is only two weeks older then my sons daughter,( he has her 5 months out of the year..summer vacation...and holidays...and weekends when they can get together from two differnt states)The girls love each other...well sometimes there is sibling problems...but that just proves they are sisters in their hearts She calls us Grandma and Grandpa already...so as you see she has already become our Granddaughter in our hearts..soon it will be legal. Anyways does anybody have any suggestions for a gift to our new Grandaughter?
Thanks

Talking A gift for a "new" granddaughter!

Bless you for receiving this precious child as your own! I'm an A mom who also has a granddaughter that was adopted out in a pvt adoption and I've always been in contact with her. There is a Precious Moment figurine of a little girl and two parents and the girl is holding an adoption certificate...and what about a heart charm for a neck chain or bracelet with her new name "Mary Jones" on the front and Grandma and Grandpa (or what ever she calls you) and the adoption date on the back. Might want to consider giving your son's daughter the same gift for her birthday the next time with her birthdate on it!

Thanks Joy for your ideas. If I find the Precious Moment figurine online I will post the addy for you. good luck on your adopting your stepdaughter. My siblings and I were adopted my my mothers third husband....her second husband was our father and a drunk...our life with him was not pleasant...it was heaven for us when she married her second husbad...he was a 6'3" gentle giant...he never laid a hand on us, and did whatever he could to be a real father too us. Thank God for putting him into our lives

Jacquie,
For gift ideas, maybe a photo album, or a locket with photos of her mom & dad (or her new sister). Avon has some very cute but inexpensive jewelry for children.
Whatever you get her, maybe you should consider buying a duplicate for her sister as well. Although I'm sure they love each other dearly, it must be a little difficult for your son's biological daughter to live in a different State while another little girl is living in her Daddy's house.
I'm sure everything will work out great... just as long as everybody remembers to make both girls feel equally important to the family.
Congratulations on your new granddaughter, and best wishes to you all!
~ Sharon

I never buy for one of the girls without buying for the other....I love buying things for my Grandkids...I like to buy them things I couldn't afford for my children(we were in the Military for 30 years) Now we can afford it and I love to got shopping for them...I go a little over board at times...but I think it is because the girls live so far away...my son is in the AF and they are stationed in NC...His little girl lives in PA with her Mom...and we live way out in the Desert of Az My son and the girls mothers don't mind that I go over board at times...they seem to understand. My 9 year old Grandson lives in Tucson...so we get to see him often...and I just love taking hiim shopping...He is an ADHD child and he lives with his Single Mom(Dad is not in their life at all) So we try real hard to be a big part of his upbringing...as does the rest of my family...My sisters and their husbands and their kids.

found the perfect gift

I found this at a local Jewelers ...thought it would be perfect for my new Granddaughter...the Adoption was made final yesterday
Here is a picture of what I bought her...Now I have to find an engraver to put the initials on it(I think engraving is a lost art...having a problem finding one) Hope this works.
