Hello all, i was hopeing to see if any of you would know how long, or if there is a quicker way to get a court date in Joplin for a stepparent adoption ? We have our lawyer, and have a petition and termination of rights all drawn up and signed, but i'm wondering whats next ? I'm waiting for a call back from the lawyer to ask this too, but he has been less then easy to get a hold of.

The gal at the front desk that i talked to didn't seem to know much, but when i asked when we could get a date she said not untill at least March/April - does it really take this long ? I thought i had read somewhere ( can't find where now though ) that they must schedule a date within a certain amount of time after filing the petition - is this true ? We would hate to have to wait till then for this to go through. Any help would be great. Thanks !
