Cool Preverbial egg on my face

.......and virtual cigars (they don't smell or damage your body!!LOL!) to everyone. We were selected for the two girls age 12 and 11. I didn't expect to hear at all, like so many times before.....but here we are.
We really don't have much information yet. We'll know more later in the month.

Yeah to you Jerry and to Mrs!!! How wonderful that it FINALLY happened!!!

Did you get selected BEFORE you were told about the children and their issues? That would be way weird.

I hope this is all your dreams come true!!

Riley (mom to a GREAT 12 year old girl)

Talking I'm virtually jumping up and down!! :o)

Hugs and congratulations to you and Mrs. Jerry! I'm SOOOO happy for you. I'd jump and down for real, but the house probably wouldn't withstand the jarring. Be sure to post with what details you wish to share when you can -- and before the girls move in, because we all know there will be no time to post after that! LOL

We did have "some" background info from the website and when the cw called to make sure we were still interested. We need to read the pshchological evaluations, talk to their teachers, foster parents, read the file etc. They're sisters 12 and 11. No "major" psychological diagnosis (ADHD for both), and the older girl is mildly mentally retarded. According to what we were faxed today she will always function at a 6 or 7 yo level and will most likely reside in an assisted living situation as an adult.
They're about 600 miles from us and we'll be driving up there in a few weeks to meet the girls and go over their files. Of course the cw said "they would really like to have a horse." One step at a time. I guess we probably won't move quite as close to "in town" as we had hoped!!LOL!!

Wink

so glad to hear the news and hope that it is everything that you have wished for. A horse would be a great idea. Animals are a great learning experience for kids. We had a baby rabbit the dogs brought in, and the cw made out a foster parent certificate for the child we had at that time. po

Cool

Thanks everyone, and Peggy that's neat! It occured to me that we might be able to do a great service to the cause if we were to sell the idea to Hollywood to do yet another Reality TV show (I really don't care for these things but maybe I'd watch this one). Seeing as how you have to be a "Survivor" in the jungles of paperwork and emotions for long periods of time this would capture part of an audience. The "Fear Factor" of bringing a child into your family has left more than a few of us with some sleepless nights, and finally as someone here put it, "Adoption is like marrying a blind date." Having all the decision makers of America involved here it's like being "Married by America." We'll leave the other's alone and just press on from here to Hollywood. We already have two warm and witty hosts for the show with Graham and Louise, and you'd need no expensive writers as there is more than enough drama, comedy and horror to fill the seasons of prime time.
Just another quirky thought on a rainy night in Georgia!!LOL!!
