Hello Everybody,
Just a little update...Went to Harrisburg this past Tuesday for orientation. Alot of paperwork, and scheduled for training next weekend (May 15 & 16th ). After that, the home study. I DID find out through another member that I don't have to wait for the match for the sibling group we are interested in. Another member said she had her home study sent directly to the caseworker. All her agency had to do was the paperwork. That's nice to know because the waiting can be horrible, and I was informed we may not match with the group we are interested in, which makes me wonder if they will try for that match??? Just new to all of this, but so looking forward to having the home study done. Things seem to be going quickly, though. Thanks for your replies. Cheryl ![]() |

update
Hi Cheryl:
Often there will be more than one family "trying" for a specific child or group, which explains why matching is never a certainty. It is a relief to actually start the process, though! I have an update as well, since posting last year on this thread I had a second sibling group placed and finalized, ages 3,4,6 at placement. In the younger kids the effect of having only one acting out at a time was less noticible, but in retrospect was also true. They did bond easily with me and my older kids. The difficulty of having multiples was more obvious with the younger kids (getting their socks, lunches, etc) than with my previous experience of 10 and 11 year olds. Overall, I'd say siblings are easy but I'm working on a single child now so I guess I'll be better able to answer the question later! Lynn |

Good Morning Lynn,
Thanks for your response. So glad to hear you got your sibling group. Talked to the children's caseworker the other day, and found out their is another tentative family, but they have been placed "on hold". Not sure why, but I choose to believe that it is because WE are on our way to them. From the beginning, my husband and I have felt that God has called us to these kids, and to the decision to adopt. So we are "believing", and not letting any doubt creep in. If the adoption of these specific four would fall through though, we will continue searching until we find our match. Have a good Godly day, and again thank you for responding! Cheryl |

It has been a year and a half now since your post. Did you adopt them all or did they split them? I am in a similar situation with one sibling displaying behavior problems diagnosed with RAD and ODD. I too am afraid for the younger siblings and don't know that I could adopt them all. Please let me know how your situation turned out.
Thanks! Darla Mom to: Josh by birth - 21 years Amanda by birth - 20 years Ashley by adoption - 5 years (M) foster to adopt (hopefully!) - 31 months (A) foster to adopt (hopefully!) - 17 1/2 months |

lovebeingmommy,
We did not adopt the 4 yr old. We tried to take her back home, but quickly learned that she was going to continue to have needs that we could not meet for her while caring for the rest of our children. We did however have the support of the state to adopt the others and another sib that was born during this situation. I miss my 4 yr old every day, but she is better in the home she is in and we hope they can find permanency for her there. Good luck with your situation. Makimom |
