Adoption of Hearing Impaired Children

Hi, I am writing to find out some information about adoption of hearing impaired children. I am in medical school and am doing a case study involving a woman who has given birth to two hearing impaired children and is pregnant again.
I need to find out whether hearing impaired children put up for adoption have a good chance of being adopted. If you could write me back with your opinion I would appreciate it. I am trying to figure out all the options for this
woman who has a good chance of having a third hearing impaired child. Thank you

2 PARENT FAMILY OF DEAF CHILDREN SEEKING TO ADOPT A DEAF CHILD

The 8 and 3 year olds have the hearing loss. We are eager to expand our family. We feel that we have the gift of a loving home, that we can share with a deaf child where they can communicate freely (we all sign). If you have any information that may be useful to us, we would love to hear from you. We have subscribed to the DANS (Deaf Adoption News Service), e-mail list, which deals mostly with foreign adoptions of deaf children, but
are hoping to find a child in the US. We are willing to travel. My husband has been working in the US Govt. for 15 years and we have excellent health insurance. We also have access to any necessary therapies. Our Adoption worker, Ms. BJ Taylor, can be reached at 252-728-3181. We feel we are uniquely qualified to parent a deaf child. Not that other families are not, but we feel since we have 2 deaf children that have been deaf since birth, (they also have 2 cousins that are deaf, ages 8 & 2) that we have some experience in this area. My Hearing impaired experience

His son is deaf, so it is only logical that we want to work with hearing impaired. Anyway, we recieved a call from an agency about our interest in adopting a 3 yr old girl from taiwan who was hearing impaired then at the last minute the agency decided that I was not old enough.I have always known I wouldn't be able to have kids of my own. So I dont see the difference in waiting 6 yrs till I'm 30 if we can provide what the child needs now. meanwhile they are begging people to help out this little girl. And here I am crying like a baby

because I can and want this child as my own. She needs me and there is nothing I can do! Ithought it was about what would be good for the child and about a loving home that could provide for special needs but it is really about some persons idea about certain rules to being a parent not the childs needs at all. So be carefull in dealing with agencys they give false hope and say we want what is best for the child but it is really about their rules and fees and their idea that they can play God and decide who gets to be a parent and who doesn't!!!!!!
