I haven't posted much in a while simply because I am so busy. It seems that I am alwasy running here or there and almost never have peaceful, uninterupted computer time.
All of the boys are doing well, but I wanted to shatre a moment that happened yesterday evening. In the four months that I've had A and RC, I have seen huge changes in RC. The polite, quiet, somewhat withdrawn teen has left us. In his place, I have an outgoing, active, and pretty funny young man. He has adjusted very well to his new high school, he has a girlfriend, and his grades are good. He's joined both the JROTC program and Law Enforcement Explorers. He's also chosen his friends wisely. He relishes the simple things: being able to go to a freind's house, being able to go to the mall without an adult, and even being able to walk up the road to the convenience store. His gf asked him if he wanted to come to her parents for Thanksgiving, and he told her "No offense, but this is the first Thanksgiving we're having as a family, so I'm staying with my Dad." Last night, before he went to bed, he came into the living room where I was reading. he sat down and told me "You know something, I never thought I'd really fit in anywhere. Every placement I've had, I was always treated like an otsider. Here, you've just made it so easy to be a normal kid. Thanks!"

Geez, Mike! Every time you post I have to grab a hankie.
Thanks. I'm so glad to hear the RC is doing so well and is relishing being in a family who loves and values him as an individual.

Mike - Your story gives me hope that maybe our recently placed 18yr old girl will come around and flourish as well as your son! Maybe we'll get there in another 3 months...it has not been easy as of yet.
