I have been enjoying a nearly four week run of good things...and not sharing. This is because about the time I share, I get pulled underwater again.
V has done (on his own) a complete 180 degree turn! I met with teachers last week. Since his return from juvenile detention, he has achieved all As/Bs/Cs. He has turned in every home work assignement, except one. He has not missed one class or had one tardy. HE MET A GIRL!! She has helped turn him towards the better things in a way I couldn't. He has tested clean since being out of juvie this time. His attitude is better and we are actually talking better. I am not a fool. We are not out of the woods yet. I know that he had alcohol a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't get any proof, as I found out after the fact. He has complied with all of his legal obligations. I also know he plans on going back to WA when he turns 18 next year. Sadly, he will leave high school without graduating. Of course, the girlfriend may change that. She seems like a strong influence and has a good head on her shoulders. He said "I love you" the other night. I know...watch out for attachment things! LOL! He hasn't asked for anything since then...or tried to manipulate me for something. I have tracked his cell phone usage, web usage, and home phone usage. No violations. I have gotten up in the middle of the night, at variable times. He is in bed, asleep. He has not used any sleeping aids, such as melatonin or sleeping pills. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts!

What great news! I hope you get enough positives out of this time to push through the next trouble time.

I'm happy for you both. I think these stretches of good behavior are really important for our kids, even if they don't last as long as we'd like! And really, they'd like them to last longer, too. It is very hard for them to pull this off.
Anyway, I like to think that in their view of themselves, in their less vulnerable moments, they remember that sometimes they DID make the right choice, that they are capable of doing that. Enjoy this encouraging time. |

Sounds great!!! I hope it keeps up!

V is wearing the new (never worn) jeans I bought him last fall and a new shirt "she" picked out for him this weekend! He put gel in his hair, gave me a hug good-bye, said "I love you", and left for school looking like a normal teenager...

LOL I'm with Mom on this one. My first thought was, "What have the aliens done with the real V??" But that was totally in a happy joking way because he's doing so well.
