IEP interrupted by hearing loss again
I requested an IEP for S. I told the school he has intermittant hearing loss. Today, I get a notice saying they checked his hearing a recommend he be evaluated for hearing aids. Great. This is what happened last time they needed to evaluate him for language processing.
I can make an appointment, wait 3 months to get seen, pay money I don't have to be told his hearing is 100% and he will lose it whenever his allergies are bad. (Can you tell I've done this a few million times?!) Now what?

Can you get a letter from your doctor saying he does not need to be evalauted because he has been evalauted before and his hearing is fine except during allergy season? Man I know how he feels. I can't hear a thing during allergy season.
Yesterday I thought someone HR told me one of my employees had contagious hepatitis. I waited a few hours before breaking down and going back to HR and requesting more information. Turns out they said he "wears his heart on his sleeve." Yikes. That was not even close to what I heard the first time! |

I agree...take EVERYTHING you already have in your files and copy it for the school. Include the audiology reports and the fact that he DID have aids and then the report confirming he doesn't need them etc.
It's a waste of time & money to do this all over again! Nevada...LOL! that cracks me up. And I can laugh because it happens to me ALL THE TIME. ![]()

My son is deaf and dd's are hard of hearing. They wear hearing aids and this is well documented in the school files. Yet, every year, they fail the hearing screening and the school insists they go get a new hearing test. They would not accept a copy of the hearing test completed in August just before the start of school, it had to be one done after the failed screening. That is their "policy" and nothing will convince them that they are being ignorant.

Joy - You should be able to opt your kids out of the school screening test? That's ridic that the school screens them for a possible hearing loss when they actually have one. lol.
I never took the school screen tests so I'm sure my mom must have opted me out of them.
