neuropsych, meds and more

We have our follow-up appt. w/ the neuropsychologist next week. Our daughter, who just turned 5, did the testing over two days earlier this month.
We went through this process hoping to get info that would help us decide about medication and possible special ed placement before she begins kindergarten next year. We were also concerned about processing issues, both visual and auditory. Oh, and an ADHD evaluation...every single provider she has had told us she is likely ADHD...but now that we have been through a year of OT for sensory issues, her attention is better and we are not sure.
We think it could be PTSD, ADHD, or a combination.
So, I am scared they are going to tell us a bunch of horrible things - although I don't know why I am scared, because I feel like we already have a handle on who she is and what her issues are. I am also nervous about having to make some decisions about medication.
What meds/therapy are likely to be suggested for this combo of issues? And do we really need meds? Perhaps just keep going w/ the OT and look at the meds again in the Spring?
Thoughts? Reassurance? Hugs?

Each doc is so different - can't really say what will be prescribed or if they'll want to start her that young. But, offering support and reassurance that it probably won't be as bad as you are expecting!

If you can handle her without meds and if she can handle herself then you can say no even if the doctors want to give them to her. The evaluation just gives you information and the option to use suggested services and treatments. I personally would say no to drugs unless you simply can't handle her otherwise. ADHD symptoms come from a lot of things besides ADHD. If your daughter has had multiple foster placements then her supposed ADHD might just be stress related and the fact that it is diminishing just means she is growing more comfortable in your home.
