Adhd?

How do I go about getting T dianosed with ADHD? I done an online checklist. I answered often or very often on several questions and sometimes on everything else. He talks ALL the time, is impulsive, forgetfull, easily upset, often act inappropriate when we are out, careless,(falls several time a day due to not paying attention to what is around him.) brakes toys, argues, interupts conversations, has trouble making/keeping friends, has a hard time getting words out sometimes, and often takes things too far. (when playing, teasing, etc)
He has gotten better in some ways but worse in others. The non stop talking is driving everyone nuts. DD doesn't even like to be around him anymore because the talking gets annoying.
On the flip side. When in time-out he is quiet and still, he does great on school work, has perfect handwritting, read really well, and loves to helpout.

Sounds to me like you're on the right track by starting with the on-line check lists, that will give you some information when talking to someone about your concerns... I've never been faced with having a child diagnosed, but I have a friend who thinks her son is ADHD and he's 7, she started with their pediatrition.

You can request testing to be done either by/through the school district or by an outside psychiatrist. Good start would be the pediatrician...and then move from there. Talk with the teachers and find out what they are seeing - it will be valuable input. My DS came to us ODD and mood disorder, but through school assessment/testing he was diagnosed with ADHD, NOS, but then utilizing an outside psychiatrist it was further redefined as ADHD, inattentive type.

Good luck!

We are trying to get that diagnosis for our son right now. We filled out questionairs and the teachers are filling them out, and then we bring them to the doctor. He has already had that diagnosis in the past so that will help. Plus he has his aspergers diagnosis, but he is doing so well with that, that it wont help him in school any, so we are going for an ADD diagnosis. He has decided two years after taking himself off all meds he wants to go back on. (He is sixteen)

I found this check list online. Will it work for me and the teacher to fill out for the doctor? Here is the link

The forms I've filled out for ADHD evaluations have been much longer and more detailed than this, so I don't think it would be useful for an actual diagnosis. I think your pedi is a good place to start. He/she can refer you for an evaluation and they'll give you the forms for you and T's teacher to fill out.

Get a referral from your pediatrician. If you have a preferenace where to have him evaluated, do your homework. We took our daughter to a children's hospital for a full eval by 4 specialists - that was phenominal. Could have also just done the local pediatric shrink and gotten it done, which is who we get services from - but I really wanted cutting edge education behind her evaluation.
