No, thats just it, the school system says that it is heresay, not proof. I think you are simplifying the process. You can't just walk up to the school system and tell them to do it. They are required by law to provide the least restrictive environment. I have another meeting Thursday.

I'm stumped here....

If you have a letter from a DOCTOR stating that your daughter is a danger to other kids, how in the world is that HERESAY???? By this logic, if one of my sons has his tonsils out, I'd probably have to bring the tonsils to school with us rather than a doctor's note or else it would be "heresay". PINHEADS!!!!!!

As a professional bean-counter, I look at this from a different (albeit cynical) angle. It sounds to me like your school admin is using "least restrictive" as a euphemism for "cheaper". How appalling!!!

Lorraine, I don't blame you for not wanting to homeschool any longer. We considered home schooling our guy and with his high special needs I could not do it alone 24/7. I guess the other option for your school is to pick up the expense of a school you feel is appropriate. Many parents have gone to court and won that round. Why should you pay for their inability to protect everyone (your daughter included). It's sad that it looks like it's heading to a legal battle, just what you need right?

BTW, legally heresay is one person testifying to the statements of another person. Milehigh is right. Doctor's documentation is not heresay if written and signed by the doctor. They aren't very educated in the legal system, are they? I have a feeling they will be soon. :-)

LOL. Mike is right - least restrictive = cheaper. Thats the bottom line. Probably, most parents would just say ok. (they are learning that I am not MOST parents). I'm going to delve more into how they can just ignore the doctor's request. Yes, apparently you would have to bring the tonsils in a jar.....

I hate this.

Just Great! This will mean I have to bring my daughter's heart valve's, bloodwork (I'm assuming the actual viles of blood as the paperwork won't be good enough), and lung tissue to school in a jar!

Sorry, Lorraine - I'm trying to make you laugh! I know you hate this! (probably because it totally sucks!).

So it sounds like if you need to instruct her to be sure to jump someone on the first day in front of the aid. Hmm, maybe the principal?
Sorry just kidding, trying to get you to laugh too.

This was meeting number 11 in the past two months. They gave us what we wanted!!!!!! Don't know if they realized that we just wouldn't back down or what, but they had people that were county reps there. She is in a contained classroom with a personal aid. There is about a 3:1 teacher/child ratio. I am breathing easier now.

So, no need to keep those tonsils in a jar!!!!

I'd been lurking on this thread and I'm so glad to hear that things have been resolved - and that the solution is what you've been advocating for! Good job Mama!
