MK, It was over in 5 mins. Our attorney gave us a number to call directly into the court room. They asked our notary (which was a juvenile officer that we have known for years) how she knew us. Then she had to swear us in. Then we listened while they sore his cw in. They asked us a few questions, like do we want to adopt him..how long has he been in our home, and if we have come to love him as our own.
Then he asked the cw some questions, like was it in the best interest of the child to be adopted by us. Then he said I am signing the final decree..congratulations..then every one in the court in FL, was shouting congrats. I DID leave with some kind of proof that we DID adopt him today. I got the notary to notarize all 3 pages of the notice to appear by phone for his adoption. It was a breeze. The hardest part was toting him up 3 flights of stairs..they are remodling our court house here, so the elevator was out. If I had to do it over.. I would have gotten a notary to come to my house and do it.

Thanks Lylac for the info. We're still in the preliminary stages. We have retained a lawyer in FL. We're still waiting for full disclosure and even the petition to adopt and the go ahead to do the intent to adopt.

Well I'll see if I can beat you guys either way - either the shortest or longest. At the rate we're moving just to get to finalization, it will probably be a 20 second thing, which would add to even more frustration.
But the most important thing will be that we'd be finalized, so I just keep trying to remember that.
