Prayers for my oldest tonight...
It has been a really hard day..and a harder night..
I think the mommy instincts were kicking in big time today. I got an emergency call to the school around noon and arrived to find R crouched under a desk in her mentor's office crying and rocking with a look of sheer panic and terror on her face. No one could get her out and she kept kicking and yelling and panicked harder everytime they tried to get her out...so they let her stay there until I got there and talked to her reassuring from a distance.. I kind of crouched under the desk with her...and she grabbed on to me..The weirdest thing was she called me Sunshine (my Scout name..and the name she first knew me as) and begged me not to tell her Poppa (that's what she called her bio-dad)..She wasn't herself at all...her eyes were just wild...it was very very very scary. I figured at that point, we needed the hospital...I had no idea what to do..the teachers called an ambulance for us..and the paramedics were really good and gentle with her..She was still very very very panicked, she was absolutely stiff and had huge wild eyes.. Once we got to the hospital, they gave her a shot..and she fell asleep in about 30 mins... When she woke up, she was very confused..she had no idea why she was in the hospital, couldn't remember what had happened...and seemed back to her normal self...They did release her, but I am keeping her on line of sight.. The pdoc suggested a post-traumatic stress incident? She's staying home from school tommorrow (March break starts early) and I'm going to meet her teachers...her mentor, her mentoring sister and the headmistress called tonight to see how she was doing. Right now, she's really embarassed and is a little miffed at all the fuss... Me...I need a drink and some hugs...

It does sound like a PTSD episode but what triggered it?
Hugs and prayers.

Oh, how frightening! It does sound like a trauma flashback - my son used to have trauma rages where he'd start calling me by his abusive step-mom's name!. But I really hope you can figure out what triggered it to try to avoid a repeat in the same setting :-(

It sounds very much like PTSD, my son also has these episodes. It may not have been anything specific to trigger, could have been a word, sound smell. Just keep her close and keep assuring her she is safe
