I can't thank everyone enough for their responses. I've made an appt w/a therapist highly recommended by our agency AND families; the school is supporting me pulling him out during the day for therapy, no questions asked; my boss is helping me with a flexible schedule, again, no questions asked; I've ordered the "A Very Touching Book" referenced above, and am committed to line of sight supervision.

Last night when I posted, I was sick. Today, I have hope.

Thank you so much!

Think of it the way that you would any other attention seeking behavior.....the instinct to resort to that way of communicating may be strong, but people can always learn new tools.

That have an EXCELLENT list of therapists that are not agency recommended, but PARENT recommended. It's so hard when dealing with these issues, but know you are not alone. Good luck.

Attachment Disorder | Nancy Thomas Parenting | Attachment.org | Reactive Attachment Disorder also has a list of parent-recommended therapists. This is where we found ours.
