Ummm... no thank you.

Today we got a call for two boys, case going to go to adoption quickly... 1 and 2 years old. Hmm... four kids under three. No thank you. We politely declined, mentioned the fact that we just got home with our son THREE DAYS AGO, and we would not be taking placements for a long time unless a birth sibling to one of our kids needs placement.

I'm just thinking about four kids that little... oh, I forgot the BEST part, the two boys are high needs, which is why they called us! Yup, what I REALLY need is three special needs kids under three plus one "normal" kid who is then going insane because she never gets any attention.

No offense to those who think four kids that small would be a dream come true. For me it would be a bit more of a nightmare.

I hope they find the right home for those boys really soon...

And, yeah, while I'm jealous, I completely understand!

Trust me 2 under 3 and one just over 4 non special needs was a handful for me. Definately doable but a handful none the less and these were bios.
I am sure those little ones will find their forever family that best suits them. I am sure that them being the 2 only children would be best for them too.

It must be so heartwretching having to say no, but when all is said and done it is best for ALL involved.

I know how you feel.
I have had to turn down probably 10 kids since we started the adoption process.
Once we got a call for a sibling set 45min after T's adoption was final
We almost said yes but then relized it was too much for us to handle at the time.
I got a call for a special needs newborn when baby A was 5mo old. We said no because we felt his needs where too much for us to handle.
It is sooo hard saying no to kids who need a home but we cant adopt them all. (unless DH finally wins the lottery )

ROFL When it rains it pours...but we've said no a time or two, too. It's hard, but I sure sleep better. (well...when the ones I have actually sleep!)

Continued congrats on your new baby, too.

Just the thought would have put me into cardiac arrest - but then I wouldn't even do ONE kid under the age of three at this stage, with or without special needs!

Lylac... four special needs is one thing (and yes, you are a saint) but three special needs all under three?!?!?!?!? and one more under three just for fun?

To me it was an insane request.
