It's ELECTION DAY

My Daughter is running for class president!
As part of learning government, her 2nd grade class is holding an election. some of her class issues she'll need to address in her speech are:

*Why they are responsible and what do they do at home and in school to show how responsible they are.

*How they will help other kids in our classroom make good choices about getting work done, having a great attitude and working quietly.

*What will they do to help other people in our community

*Ideas they have for encouraging kids in the class to read

*How to encourage kids to be at school on time.

She's working on her speech right now, I'll post it when she's done.

Her 1st handwritten rough draft is here:

I will help the kid's on math I will show them how to do it. But I wonet tell them the anser. I will help the community by fineing liter and theroe'ing it away. Ascing if they want 50 dolers for playground uqitment and the class party and if he or she ses yes I will say well what are we waiting for let's go get some books. we wold go and trete ore mineds to some book's. That's wy I think you showld all vote for me.

She is now typing it and making more of an introduction. As well as her plans for the other issues she forgot the first time.

My son really, really wants to be the president. Mostly because he thinks he would be in charge of the world and not have any rules. He says he will get the rules changed so he can run, since he was not born here. (though dd's teacher told her she could run even though she was not born here, that you just have to be a citizen - and she's a teacher!)

Well, she did great. There were 9 of the 18 kids who ran and gave speeches.

You couldn't vote for yourself. Although she's nervous, she did say that if she didn't win, it wouldn't be too bad, as long as she did her best. And that she would just need to try harder next time.

We've been having some "spin doctoring" type of lies with her lately....saying things to make herself look better....so I'm not sure what to trust. They're bold faced lies, but it's told with the idea of saving face and making me proud.

I hope it's just the october issue and will be done soon. I'll find out and post the results of the auction tomorrow, and I'll post a video of her speech as well.

Well, she didn't win the election, but I think she had the best speech....perhaps she'll try harder now to show she's responsible and earn the other kid's trust!

She already said she wants to run for US president when she's older....didn't I say it all along...my lil world dictator!
