Got an address for son

Some people told me they like sending stuff to soldiers and said they wanted my sons address when I got it.

However, I forgot who all said they wanted it so either post here and I'll pm it to you or pm me and I'll give it to you.

Was kinda weird mailing stuff. I had to fill out a form that listed everything in the box and the guy at the post office read me all the stuff I'm not allowed to send. Gave me a box and told me to fill it with stuff for next time cause the cost is the same-and it gets a military discount-okay.(hey, it's a rural post office, he's always giving mailing lessons to anyone willing to chat).

Anyway, let me know. My son loves mail.

ya, me!

I love those boxes though, so you can cram it all in there for the same price! I use two usually, one for the hygiene stuff & the other for the food. I'm sure they don't want their food tasting like Old Spice!

Does he have any allergies or anything we need to avoid?

He's only allergic to laudry soaps that I'm aware of so shouldn't be an issue there.

I'm suppose to know what he likes?! Food like any 19 year old. um, um, um-I have no idea. He likes mail and is a little home sick. He likes little kids so gets a kick out of their drawings and things(his neice sent him some) from them.

Lucy - I'd love to have my kids send letters and Em is great at drawiing pictures. Pm me his address and we'll get together a package for him. I'll just ask my almost 18 year old (omygosh how'd he get so old) what he'd want and send that !

Thanks-he'll be glad to get mail.

I know the post office guy was reading me the forbidden list:

No pork products of by products
No violent comics
No girly, swimsuit, or suggestive magazines, pictures, books

Those are the main things I remember. I wasn't sending anything very exciting so wasn't a big issue.

Somebody had a good website that I wrote down and now have to find as what to and not to send. (I should really get a better filing system or improve my brain..)

when dh was a Marine during the first Gulf War, we sent tons of care packages. The most coveted item back then was baby wipes. Dh didn't get to take a shower for weeks on end and the baby wipes helped him feel a little more human.

He also liked pictures from home, cookies, newspapers and stuff from the kids. We even sent our oldest daughter's first lost tooth. He said they posted their family pictures from home on their tents so that everyone could see them. Oh, and tapes of crazy stuff, like us having dinner.

I don't know how much it's changed since then, but I do know that letters from home really were so important.

We sent a box to a friend's son-in-law. It was a hoot to read all the taboo things. We combined things together and came up with a nice list of things not to send, like live pigs. (No live animals was one of the things we couldn't send, as well as pork products.) I think the Mr. Ed dvd was ok...I couldn't ever remember there being anything suggestive or any 'skin' on Mr. Ed!
