WAAAY OT! My dog has fleas

HELP!!

I think she has fleas. She has some sort of bug crawling around on her. I put a Zodiac brand flea collar on her a couple weeks ago. Still buggy. I put Zodiac brand flea powder on her last week. Still buggy.

I've always had great success with Zodiac brand products. The 2 I used have different ingrediants, I figured if one didn't work, the other should.

But in the meantime, we are infested! Q, me and Wolf are bitten up and scratching.

Any suggestions?

The fleas are probably not on the dog but in the carpet and getting BACK on the dog.

I would suggest going to your laundry aisle of the grocery and picking up a box or two of 20 mule team borax. Put it liberally on the carpet, it will make the fleas explode.

Leave it down a good 12 hours, then vaccuum.

Vaccuum everyday, wash bedding, bathe the dog in flea shampoo.

I use frontline on my dogs once a month. It's expensive but we haven't had any fleas on the dogs or in the house in 5 years.

I use Advantage! No fleas. You can buy it on line and it's cheaper. I think for 4 months it'll cost you about $50.00.

I've never had to get rid of fleas from the carpet so I'm sorry - I can't help you there...

Flea powder and flea collars do no good (this is from more than one vet). You need to get Frontline or Advantage for your dog. They will kill the fleas on the dog within 24 hours and continue to do it for a few months.
In the meantime, cut up the flea collar and put it into your vacuum bag. It will help control the fleas you suck up. Vacuum at least twice a day. If the infestation is very bad in your house, you will need to get a professional to come flea bomb your house.
Sorry you are going through this.

Fort instant relief for the dog call your vet and ask for Capstar. It is a pill you give them and it kills all fleas on the dog instantly. It is great. You still have to treat the rest of your house and use something like Advantage or Frontline. The Borax works great. You may have to do it several times to get all of the fleas and their eggs. Make sure that you change the bag on your vacuum cleaner after each use. The Frontline and Advantage work all month long. The Capstar works instantly. And it is cheap. At least here it is. I pay $2.50 a pill and use it as needed on all 4 of my inside dogs. We don't have fleas in our house. As the songs says There might be bugs on some of your mugs but there ain't no bugs on me!

I did not know about the Borax. It is on my shopping list. Things have actually gotten a little better. I don't know if the stuff I've done is kicking in and the new hatchlings were causing it and are dying off. Or it's cold in here. I owe the heating company a little over $600 from last year. So, we don't have heat right now. According to weatherbug, it's 57 now. So, I'll need to sell a kidney or something soon.

My neighbor wants to buy an old Blazer of mine that is in my back yard. If it has the engine that he needs, he'll give me $300 for it, so we're almost 1/2 way to having the heat turned on for the winter!
