Adoption Finalization Day 9/23/08

Hi everyone,I wanted to let you know my Adoption finalization day is 9/23/08 on Tuesday. I can
t wait, very excited! I have been to the depths bakc and forth to be a mom. My hubby and I have been through abuse allegations, psycho match, and everything else.
I have a few pointers for future parents!
1) Feeling to help a child is wonderful, research the child if you can! I can't say that enough!
2) Document and document,keep a daily journal!
3) Choose a good therapist! Don't just do band-aid therappy-really research someone!
4) Call your caseworker when something happens out of the ordinary!
5) Find a good agency that will help you!
6)Be prepared for the honeymoon period!
7) I would stay away from children with Reactive Attachment disorder, unless you really have the services, therapy, and all your energy for them!
8) If you are interested in a child from disruption, research, research! I can not stress that enough!
Parents need to be their eyes and ears when looking for child! That child could hurt pets, self, others, who knows! You just have to be careful! It looks like icing on the cake, but when you start going into the layers,be prepared!
Im not discriminating RAD children or parents the least bit! You deserve a standing ovation! I had a radish for 4 months, and thank god not here anymore!
9) Don't be afraid of older child adoption,at least the diagnosis, and therapy, and medications are listed on history, compared to the younger child you just don't know about!
Good luck with you journey to adoption! It can be happy or sometimes sad!
Regards,
Bostonbeagle

Congratulations!

We know what a journey this adventure can be and that there are many roads ahead still to experience - good, difficult and in between too - hoping to see you here often sharing and more!

Best wishes Always!
