Red face Nothing worse than being hit on by your sons...

Of course, all of us know about myspace and facebook! This year, I allowed the boys to set up profiles. I set some parameters. These include: profiles set to private, no inappropriate pictures, only people they know on their profiles, etc.

Well...these boys have a sneaky dad. I went out to myspace and set up an account...pretending to be a cute teen girl! I even went out and pulled in some images of a cute girl. I sent messages to all three of the boys. Guess what?! All three responded and added me as a "friend". One of them really started hitting on me! I let it go on for a week or so. We would be sitting in the living room. He would be sending messages to "her", thinking he was slick because I could not see the screen. Little did he realize, I was the one returning the messages.

Imagine the shock and awe when I revealed that Tiffany was me!!! The look on their faces was priceless!

I have threatened to post this story on my profile...where their friends may read it. Lesson learned...now all of them are very careful adding friends to their myspace and facebook accounts.

I know...purely evil.

Eek!

This whole thing is wrong on SO many levels. But good idea there, Indy. I hope the lesson sinks in and lasts for a long time.

I thought you meant physically

I assumed your sons were hitting you! Not out of the realm of possibility with our kids.

You know those random e-mails that you get from "women" wanting to be your friend and for you to come check out their webcam? My son gave one of these people his home address and phone number. She didn't even ask him for it!

The worst part was, he no longer has access to the internet at home, so he managed to do it while at school! There are only 20 kids in his school and it's for emotionally disturbed kids! I still can't believe they weren't monitoring him! He got away with it too because they had never told him he shouldn't!

He's always coming up with something new instead of repeating old misbehaviors so he gets away with WAAAYYY too much.

I showed him some short videos I found online that showed people in prison, men, and other people pretending to be cute young girls on the internet. I doubt it phased him. *sigh*

Good job! Way to go Dad!

Yeah, your title scared me when I saw it, thinking maybe one of the other moms had posted it, then when I saw it was you that started the thread I was REALLY worried!
Sounds like you found a pretty effective way to deal with the problem though.

I started an email exchange with one of my teen fds years ago, way before MySpace. I found out things I did not want to know about her sexual preferences. She seemed so sweet and innocent in person but was quite the experienced predator IRL. Scared the crap out of me. I did confront her about it and limited her computer usage but it changed the way I saw her forever.

I am glad your didn't go that far. I don't think you are evil at all.
