I talked to M's aid today and dh met with his teacher. They both say he has been an angel at school. Of course the aid was upset when I told her he had admitted to me that he threw away part of his lunch when she wasn't looking yesterday. Today he claims to have eaten it on the bus, but I doubt it, he can't open it himself and he is at the back of the bus and the bus aid is at the front and he strapped into a wheelchair so can't move. They could not even tell that he stayed up refusing to eat until three AM this morning. So it seems he is saving all the bad stuff for me. I am not sure if it is better or not. I am kind of glad it's not an issue at school, however, it makes me look crazier that he is soo good at school and not at home.

School hasn't started for us here yet. As much as I am looking forward to the kids going back to school, I am dreading E going into third grade. I have spoken to the school counselor, and am supposed to get a call from the school psychologist, but I have been told that they really can't give him special services without an official diagnosis. I have been waiting since April to get a call from the neuropsychologist our pediatrician referred us to. Only to find out today that for some reason there was no referal. So, I have been waiting all this time for nothing, the referal will go in now, but I know it is at least a four month waiting list to get in.
Frankly, without special services there is really no reason to send him to school. He won't be learning anything, he will be finding ways to not do the work. And when they try to consequence him he will have a total freak out melt down. But at least I will be sitting here at home enjoying my coffee and not hearing it.

If M keeps this a secret "at home" thing...then you may have found his trigger.....set a up a video camera when you put food in front of him....get it all on tape.... knowing his on tape will make him need to "perform" and keep up his act perhaps?
A made it so far without any major issues...she's had only minor 2 problem days since Aug 12 (3 weeks).

We did try taping him once. We did not want to sit and watch him because he was in a phase of taking hours to eat a small amount of food. So we left him in the chair with a video camera to watch him. He stared at it the whole time. Did not eat a bite.
