Dorky Things People Say -aka- HUH???

OK Guys...Cricks Thread is so much fun that I wanted to start a new one asking for everyone to share the DORKIEST THINGS PEOPLE HAVE SAID TO YOU; things that honestly made you go HUH??? the moment they were out of earshot! To get us started I'll even go first; not a problem since I'm not the stupid one this time! Thanks, Tracy

I know you're tired of church stories but believe me, some of my best eyebrow raising moments happen there. Here goes: A very nice middle aged lady comes up to us after church when my twins were around 7 or 8, and comments on how identical they look; she then asks if my d/h and I did anything special to conceive twins? I stammer and say uh, no....not really. She goes on to say "Oh but you had to, they look so much alike!"

I thought about her question on the way home and wondered what exactly does one do to conceive twins who look so much alike?? Maybe I should have said "Yes, we left the lights on." Tracy

Ellipses co-workers say.......

A few of my co-workers ask me something about my foster children every single day do, (you hear me every day). I'm single and 44 with two young girls. The ladies are older and they think they are never wrong. when I bring the girls to your dept or show pictures. Each will pull me to the side and, tell me for the hundreds time.
"You know it's true if, you live with someone long enough and feed them they will start to look like you"! "you listen to me now, Those are your kids. "you feed them well! There mommas and daddy's wouldn't know anything about that! I bet".
It's funny to me now because, I hear it so much.
I have talk to them about some of the comments.

When we were ready to have Austin placed with us, I sent my mother a picture of Austin. She promptly took it to work and proceeded to brag on her new grandson. Her supervisor walked past, looked at the photo of a 7 year old child and said "Who's this?" She said "My daughter and her husband are adopting him. He's 7." The guy said "Have they decided on a name yet?"

I have been asked several times where T is from. When I tell them Arkansas, they almost always look at him and say "REALLY". No,I'm lying.

One of DH's family members (who we hardly ever speak to). said very loudly (at the library) the first time she meet baby A "He is a WHITE baby. He dosen't look at all bi-racial".

While going through process I told a lady from work that I was adopting two children - ages 6 and 7 - from Russia and she said "will they speak Russian?"...no, probably French!
Another man met them (again at work) and commented "they don't look Russian at all - what lucky little orphans". Ok, besides wanting to clock him - I spent days wondering what "Russians" look like. It's a country much like us...

I constantly gets asked "are they twins" about my Pixie and Teeter. They look enough alike (same hair color, same eye color) so that question doesn't phase me. However, I was asked, not once but TWICE "Are they triplets?" When I had Teeter's older sister. She was two, mind you, with a head full of curly brown hair... the other two were very bald and obviously infants. I really wanted to say "Yes, but we only feed that one!"

I commuted to college. In my carpool I had a woman who was in her 30's and started telling me that she knew someone who had gotten a small bug in her ear so she went to the ER. At the ER the doctor had her turn her head so that the bug ear was up. The other ear was over a basin. Then the doctor proceeded to pour water water into the bug ear and it ran through her head and out the other ear. That was how they got the bug out.

I am not kidding.

I looked in the rearview mirror at the other member of the carpool. She was rolling her eyes back at me.

R and I graduated.

I bet you know the outcome for the other person!

I had someone ask me

"So are they yours" - Yes promptly followed by

"Are they brothers" - Well yes, they are both my kids...confused tone here..then followed by

"Do you have any of your own" to which I looked at them...very confused & irritated and said "Uh they are right here, I have two sons, who are brothers to each other".

People are so stupid.

When people find out my daughter is adopted, they will ask how long we have had her, 8 years, and then they want to know if she speaks English.

I get the whole "Do you know who her parents are?"

Or "Does she know she's adopted?" Um....no we told her at age 4 that we were kidnapping her!

My favorite: "So, what do you do?" Me: "I'm a lobbyist." "You mean like in a hotel?"

I am the girl half of a set of boy/girl fraternal twins. I have been asked more than once if we are identical!!!!!!!! Now isn't that the dumbest question ever? I answer by saying "are you serious"? He is a guy, I am a girl, how can we be identical???????????

Oh my gosh. A co-worker of mine called a university and asked to speak to some in serials. The person who answered the phone said "Cereal? The kind you eat?"

I had Hanna (who was 2, african/american, and very small for her age) and my nephew (was was 3, asian and very big for his age) at a restaurant and the waitress asked if they were twins. Twins?
