Question about sensitive male medical problem!
I can't believe I almost forgot to ask this! A. mentioned at breakfast that he's having problems with his "parts". Got drunk, got in a fight, got kicked. Sadly, I confess that I got a little distracted by the drinking and fighting, and didn't give this enough further thought 'till I got home! Anyway, he said that he was injured and things aren't "working" properly. I described what a ruptured testicle might be like, and he thought that fit...but went on to say that "IT doesn't work anymore- I can still go pee, but it doesn't "work" and it sort of hurts".
Okay, so at least I think we're both talking about the same thing now. I thought maybe the injury had causes some sort of internal swelling that was the problem? But he says this happened 2 weeks ago. He's got a doctor's appointment to see about it - but not until the 11th. Should I encourage him to go to the hospital emergency room right away? I don't know if it is possible he sustained some sort of permanent injury - and if so, I'm not sure what good it will do to go in two weeks after the trauma, anyway. But as always this kid is SO COMPLETELY CLUELESS about anything sexual. He told me he's been worrying he has AIDS. I assured him this is NOT a syptom of that, and according to him he isn't sexually active anyway, so he's obviously a little unclear about a whole lot of stuff. I reminds me of when he was 14 and was worried that the infamous "it" was broken because it leaks at night. AFter I explained THAT one, he became worried that if that kept happening he'd use up all his "stuff" and never be able to have kids. Hoo boy. So- back to the possible penile injury, any advice? |

On the subject -
Yes, he should get in to see a doctor before the 11th (via re-calling his doctor and going into more detail for need for appt) - if there is a blood vessel or nerve pinched it could cause swelling beyond/before it and lead to complications within the kidneys, etc.
Hope this helps!

I agree he should see a doctor right away. You may also want to take this opportunity to let him know that drugs and alcholol can have similar affects on the male libido and equipment. (insert evil grin)

Also, if he's damaged blood vessels they could be clotting, and if a clot hits his brain or heart, he'd be a gone-er...tell him to go to an urgent-care / insta-care / quick-care type place, the wait is shorter, and if it's an ER type thing, they'll send him to the hospital anyway...but for non-life threatening stuff thats the best place to go.

My son was kicked in the testicles when he was in high school. He got extreme pain that night and we had to rush him to the hospital for emergency surgery. his cords were twisted. I don't know if it prevented him from being able to have kids or not. he married an older woman that had her tubes tied.

for whatever its worth when my bs was 7 he fell off of his scooter and took the handle bar right up the sack and length of his penis, scraped it good and them little things started swelling immediately... I being the nervous mom that I am, took him right to the ER, because I do want grandkids, lol!!
Turned out he was fine, though embarassed. Doc said any injury down there warrants an immediate doctor appointment...

My cousin was kicked as a child. He was a hurting puppy. He ended up in the ER and had to have surgery. A loose thread ended up in his penis from the kick. It knotted and blocked him.
I would also suggest urgent care for any injury to the genetalia. |
