My in-laws are here, and we went out to eat. I got a HUGE plate of Mexican food that I hardly touched. I boxed 3/4ths of it up. J works just down the road. So I took it to him.

I told him "I brought you something to eat." He asked me what it was, and I told him it was Enchiladas (from one of his fav places). He said Thanks. I asked him if was coming over on Sunday and he said Yes. I asked if he was doing okay, and he said Yeah.

I told him that I loved him, to which I got a yeah in response. And I left. I tried to keep it simple. Sigh.

I'm sorry he's being such a punk head. Hopefully someday soon he will realize just how important having you and Coach are in his life. Until then, just keep loving him from a distance and praying for him. I hope he comes around soon!

I sent him a text on Saturday and he promised he'd be there for dinner Sunday night at 6pm. We made steak and all the fixings for Father's Day. He never showed.

We got a text from him after 1am that said he was sorry, but that he had to work because some other person quit. Don't know if I believe that or not...but I guess it doesn't really matter.

His text said he'd stop by during the day today (presumably to enjoy his steak while I am not around). Coach told him not to bother, that it was intended to be family time. And to let us know when he could come by in the evening and spend time with all of us.

I thought we were making some progress as he'd been answering my texts. I don't know how much longer we'll keep on trying.

I think his replying to your texts is a great step forward, though!

Try to relax and just enjoy the contact you have. I'm sure it will grow given a little more time.

If he didn't care, he wouldn't offer excuses, he would just not show up.
