Well, you all know I have the opposite problem with my youngest. LOL. However, with my second son I have some of the same issues and he is homegrown and has had no trauma, he just loves eating. Our schools say they will let you do settings or whatnot, but they don't really work. If a kid wants to get extra food they will get it. Friends leftovers, or getting a friend to buy it or something. I have just been really trying to make sure he has healthy food at home.

As for forgetting starving, it won't happen. I am 40 and still remember not having food in the house. I remember going to parties and filling my pockets with food to share with my siblings. My pantry and fridge stay full, I still have a fear somewhere of not having enough to eat, which of course shows in my waistline! LOL. I have struggled with weight for years. Ever since I could afford to have as much food as I wanted. Now I am finally loosing weight, but it's quite the battle.

Thanks,

I have personally struggled with weight all my life. I am not saying I am perfect about food, but I am one of those people that can literally eat the same things and do ALL The same activities as some of my skinny friends for a month, they will lose 5 pounds and I could gain 10.

I was about 11 years old when my pediatrician made me sign a 'contract' that I would lose weight, that alone has tramatized me, I can't imagine going through some of the things my girls did. (Like they spent 48 hours on a greyhound bus with only a vending machine bag of chips and a soda, the end of the bus trip was in Mexico, where DD promptly drank the water)

I hate the food fights. DD was at a friends swimming tonight, they had dinner about 7pm, they had Steak, Fries, and Salad. At 9pm, as I was sending her to bed she had a FIT that I wouldn't let her have a cheese sandwich. I offered her a string cheese, carrots or a yogurt drink, none was acceptable.

Often when my son gets overly upset about food or uses the phrase "Starving".... I have discovered 85% of the time he's either bored or something is upsetting him and it's not REALLY food.

Sometimes it's also thirst, when you have actually starved, then sometimes your body's signals get messed up.

Thank you for bringing this point up. I will try getting him to drink something next time he does this. That's an excellent point.
