The kids got a slip & slide the other day. Yesterday they were playing on it, and since I had nothing better to do I thought I might as well join them. I got my bathing suit on and *A* starts telling me I was to old. The slide says for ages 5-12yrs. I told her I didn't care I was going to play too. (big mistake
). It took me a couple tries to get the hang of it, but then it was FUN. Then somehow one time one leg went one way and the other leg went the other way and my hip popped . I hurt but after a couple minutes I was fine and ready to go again. After a few more times it was getting difficult to get up after I slide so I just watched the kids. I figured I would be a little sore this morning. I was wrong, I am VERY sore. I wasn't this sore after hiking for hours last week. I did not even relize how bad it was until around 3:30am when I could barely get off the toilet. ![]() I had to take the kids to the libarary this morning. I was fine once I sat down. Then my sister wanted us all to go to the park. I thought o.k I will just sit and watch. Of coarse every time I managed to set down one of the kids needed me. Then the kids wanted to walk to the other side of the park. So off we went. My sister and I are twins but today I was walking like a old women. After about a little over a hour at the park we left. I need to go to the store but I went home. I tought if I took a little nap I would feel better. WRONG . For now on I will follow manufactures age restriction. |

yeah, my dh was positively glowing when I first showed him those...in fact I think there's more entertainment on slip n slide videos on you tube than half the actual movies out right now!
Google extreme sliding video and see what you find.... My DH made loads of crazy contraptions as a teen and young adult, but he was green with envy at that first video...now we just need to find a powerful enough water pump and head to our fave camping spot at lake powell.... ...and if anyone visits this summer, this is what you could expect for outdoor activities and such....

You are lucky! One of my close friends went on the slip N slide with her nieces & nephews. She was still youngish - I think she was about 24. Broke her ankle.
She broke it so badly that it never really healed right. She had surgery on it last year. She's 39 now. It's finally healed correctly. But, I'm a BIG, OLD FAT mama and I was tempted last summer. If I had a back yard, instead of side yard where ALL the neighbors would see me, I probably would have gone sliding. I have some new neighbors that moved in last summer. They're early 20's, always have a beer in hand and a smoke hanging out of their mouths. They gathered around across the street in front of my house to oogle me when I climbed onto the trampoline. I only sat on it with my feet dangling and laid back and let Q bounce me. They were disappointed that they couldn't laugh at me jumping. |

100 foot slope at a 43 degree incline on the hill with a 60 degree ramp at the foot....
Carpet under the plastic to smooth the bumps...boogie board to save the belly.... ....giant water pump of the firemen/search rescue type ... ...hmmm ... *calculates*

I hope you are feeling better and I am sorry that I did laugh a bit when you were explaining it. You just made it seem so funny.
Those u-tube vids were hilarious. I especially love the first one. Those guys seemed to too. The crowd was getting bigger and bigger there.

Aspen,
I had to share those videos with C (against my better judgment!) That looked like a lot of fun - for somebody else!!! And Arkansas, I hope you're feeling better today! |

LOL! I love water slides and wish they made a slip n slide for adults. ( a safe one! LOL!)
Water parks are a good alternative though. Unless Aspen's dh is successful....hmmm..... ![]()
