I am now THAT Mom...

The one whose kid tries to make her all crazy and she put the kid out of the house. He would not go to time out. FOught me on a time in. I finally had it, walked him to the door, barefooted, and put him on the stoop. He complained it was raining. I stated that it was not wet on the porch and reminded him it was only 60 degrees outside.

5 minutes later, I opened the door. There he was, sulking. I invited him in he said NO but came in anyhow.

Welcome ...

... you are now joining the rest of us in this wacky world of raising pre-teens ... bet you can't wait for teenagerhood - it is even more frustrating (however, today I actually had hope with my son's response to some trouble his best friend is now in ... some of what I have said for how many years might just be hitting home - ok, back to reality - all will be normal again tomorrow (ha ha)).

Hang in there and just know its ok to feel and be human!!!

Now that it's behind me, I will admit the sight of him when I opened the door- Dripping wet (because lord KNOWS he wasn't going to take my advice about the porch) and sulking at me and then refusing to come in, only to have me say "okay" and shut the door... followed by him opening it not 5 seconds later to come in....

was amusing

I've done this. More than once.

Although, my son's 'offense' was that he didn't want to live with me. I picked him up (I think he was 5 1/2) carried him outside to the porch and down the steps. I told him that maybe he could find himself a new mom.

It really didn't take him long to decide that the mom is has was ok.

I've also stopped the car and escorted him out of the car. And locked the doors. That gets me some looks.

Of course, we had an adoptive parent from outside our area, come through this area on the was to an AT here. She stopped, got her kid out of the car and left him on the side of the road.

I have never driven away. I pull into a parking lot, get him out, and let him 'think' about things.

I can't imagine anyone driving away. I'd want to, but I couldn't do it.

I drove away. I admit it. True, it was just to the end of the block.......but I just did not want to be in the car with my son anymore!!!
It's happened more than once.
Sometimes he'll stand there, fuming. Or yelling at me (down the block!) and shaking his fists at me.
Sometimes he'll start walking and walk right past the van. Then I just follow him home, and make sure he crosses the street carefully. You should see the looks I get with that one!!!

Welcome to the club, Amy!!!

Our back deck has become the screaming area for our kids. When they won't quit, I escort them to the deck so they can feel free to scream their rear ends off. They are welcome to rejoin the family when they choose to apologize and pay restitution to us. I am sick of the screaming, it's an outside noise so go there.

Welcome to the club!
