From eye surgery to Cardiologist.

Lyla has to have eye surgery again. We knew that she would when she turned 6 or 7. She had it done when she was a year old. Here eyes are stronger now and her script was lowered, so new glasses too.

Abbie, has to have elbow extention splints to keep her arms from staying folded, she also has to have hand braces to stretch and keep her hands open. And she has to have AFO's on both legs/feet. She's gonna look like one big brace!

Bremon has to see a cardiologist to see why his feet and legs are turning purple/black when he swings or sits in his high chair.

We're gonna be busy..but thats our life

I hope Lyla has an easy time with her eye surgery and that it accomplishess what the docs want it to.

I hope Abbie's body responds extra well to all the splints & stretchers and therefore won't need them for long.

And I'm going to keep my toes crossed for Bremon. I really hope it is nothing serious and can be fixed with something simple & painless.

Now, when is hubby's scheduled?

Dunno when his surgery will be..we meet with the surgeon in Nashville on the 22nd..

Bremon's Ped , as well as us think that it's bad circulation. She said that a cardio can run some type of test to check the blood flow to his lower body..Forgot what she called it.

Abbie won't have to wear the splints all the time.
Lyla's surgery is a quickie, we'll be at the hospital less than half a day.

My son had this test, I think it was called a doppler something test. They used an ultrasound type thing to measure the blood flow at all his arteries in the extremities. The conclusion was he has bad circulation, which we knew. The cause, unknown, but he is brain injured after all. That is their reason for everything they can't otherwise explain.

I'm expecting the same answer that you got Joy. Is there any treatment for it though?

I swear doctor's appointments seem to multiply like rabbits. There are times I wish I could sit in one examination room and have the doctors rotate through!

They didn't give me any treatment for him. They said it really doesn't hurt him as long as it is not caused by a heart condition. We do use heat and massage as part of our home therapy program, I don't know if it really helps, but it makes us feel better when his hands and feet are not purple. My son also wears AFO's and I think that makes it worse since he can't really move his feet around.

B wears AFO's too. that is when I can keep him from taking them off. Right now extra long socks folded over the top is working. He hasn't figured that one out yet.

I'm betting money that we get the same explaination as you did.

give him time. He'll figure it out. We do pretty well with long pants on and tight shoes. If the shoes come off the braces are off almost immediately. Now that it is warmer and we wear shorts the braces are more accessible. It doesn't help that J loves velcro.

Could soccer socks help?

THey're really, really long. Like probably up to the thigh, so you could them pull them back down to the ankle.

That is how we put the shin guards on. Socks, guards, fold the sock back down to the ankle, top of the sneaker.

My ex wore a brace and did exactly the same thing.
