Court

Well, the long anticipated trial date has arrived..and with it..the fits, tantrums, nightmares, attitude and all those lovely fun behaviours have arrived.

The girls (except M) have to testify. Hubby and I have also been called as witnesses...My father is going to court everyday and will be sitting in the gallery. On the days the girls are testifying, we also have several other friends that they know that will be sitting in the gallery.

R is very very scared and very angry. She wavers between the two. She wants her bioparents to pay for what they did to her and her sisters, but then she is afraid that they will come and get her or her sisters
She will be the last of the three to testify and she has to sit in court in front of her bioparents.

S is really really angry. She is destroying things left right and center..and just raging. She will be testifying in a room outside the courtroom, with video feed to the court...but it's hard because the questions asked will be ones she is not ready to answer..I've been holding and giving lots of attention, which definitely has helped! She is also home with me all day, and we are spending a lot of time together.

B well, she is still my little happy butterfly. She knows she will have to talk to the judge, and that her bioparents will be there and they will be talking about good and bad touches. But she also likes to please, and will try and answer questions on how she thinks the person would like her to answer....We'll see what happens.

Prayers would be so appreciated...

I will be thinking of your girls all day. How awful to do the things these parents have done and then refuse to admit it and save the kids the pain of testifying.

We are hoping my kids parents confess so they don't have to face them court. They just charged them and are looking for them now.

They have a 12 year old testifying against her parents in open court rather than in camera???? OMG. That's horrible.

The attorney I work with (bear in mind I work in child welfare, so it's dependency trials we do something similar but not quite the same) talks to the children extensively beforehand, but usually kids testifying in court are older than 12.

At any rate, she talks to them to get them comfortable with her, gets them a tour of the courtroom and explains what things will be like. Then when it comes time to testify she stands pretty close them to ask questions-in front of them, to give them someone to focus on besides their parents.

Any chance that you and your hubby can testify first that so you can get the judge to let you sit in the courtroom where she can see you?

Good luck-you guys will be in my prayers.

Sarah

Thanks kansas and zebra...

Tudu: I wish they would confess. The evidence is well..overwhelming. Unfortunately, from what I am told, they are sticking to the story that they did absolutely nothing wrong...ugh..

Skirbo: Yes, unfortunately she is testifying in open court. Not my choice, at all...All the girls have talked with the prosecutor and we have had a court room trial. The prosecutor has also said she will stand in front of R and that she doesn't have to look at her bioparents..I soo soo soo wish I could be in court with her!! But hubby and I can't be there...at all..during any part of the trial..even after we have testified. The prosecutor is being very, very by the book and doesn't want to do anything that might make the bioparents object or be able to appeal. I absolutely hate this...but what else can I do...

I will be praying for you guys. I think you need ice cream after court! At least they are getting it over with. I think here it would have been dragged out longer.
