My teacher said the highest I can bring my grade up is to a D. Maybe I can do some extra credit, if she has any. I should ask her, and then I might be able to get it to a C." Then he hugged me!

I told him I loved him and that it's a pretty natural reaction to want to blame others for your mistakes, but I'm glad he decided to take responsibility. I guess he might just live to see another day after all. LOL! (I'm such a sucker!)

I'm SO happy for you! What I wouldn't give to have that same conversation with my kid!

At my school I would not be allowed to give him a zero if he turned in his work. As a matter of fact, there are accrediting standards that require we allow students to make up work (not necessarily for full credit, but to make it up.)

As for typing it up, can you check out a typewriter from the library?

or, can you make a login JUST for him that only has a word processor access?

I'm glad he's gotten the message and is no longer lashing out.
