I adopted Michael when he was 9 years old...

He is now 15.. he has autism and an IQ of 50..

he is being held in JDC for getting out of his grandparent's home and into a neighbor's house... court is next week,... he may not be able to return home but be sent to some kind of locked institution for people with mental retardation...

please pray for this situation..

You need to contact an attorney who is VERY familiar with Autsim issues. I faced a similar situation (legal issues with my autistic son) and I am 110% sure if I hadn't called our local autism org and asked for a referral, my son would be in jail.

The attorney we used was VERY good and VERY understanding of my son's needs and issues and was able to clearly speak regarding autism and the issues children face with the local police, states attorney and the judge.

If you haven't already, please do contact someone familiar with autism - ideally someone who has a history of dealing with autism related legal matters.
