Contraband
I'm just curious...because I THINK I know all the "Contraband hiding spots" in my kiddo's room... but it doesn't hurt to compare notes.
If your child has something they're not supposed to have, where do they hide it? Mine keeps trying under the cushion in his chair or in his pockets. Fortunately he never remembers to EMPTY his pockets so I find said item in the wash.

It would take me 3 hours to tell you all kiddos hiding spots.
Tops of ceiling fans, register vents, inside the basement ceiling-anywhere and everywhere.

under the bed, in their closet between clothes, pockets, and backpacks.
They always get caught....LOL! They haven't had true contraband yet and mostly it's their sibling's stuff or stuff they "find" in the house. Haven't had a reason to get really good at this game yet I don't think. ![]()

-Taped to the bottom of dresser and desk drawers.
-Inside hollowed out stuffed animal. -Taped to the back of pictures/wall hangings. -Under the bed, up inside the box spring (you er... they tear a hole in the cloth cover to get to the open space). -Inside shoes or boots not worn often. -Rolled into socks. That's all I can think of right now. I had a brother who used to "borrow" my money and I learned to hide it.

I was gonna say the one mike took...Inside electrical boxes behind the switchplate/outlet cover
I also would stand inside the closet and look at the up high interior of the wall while facing into the room. ...same spot in cupboards... also, the top of the door jamb moulding...inside any houseplants...think of places/boxes you never look in, and THATS an option he'll think of.... I think getting him a locking "treasure box" would cut down on his need to find places...and sort of keep it all in a centralized location...easy to monitor (those locks always suck)

Thanks for all the ideas. My wedding ring is missing and it is not in any of the usual spots.

Geez. I feel like such a putz! My Dh hides things (like nice things - GIFTS and chocolate, guys!
) from me by putting them on the top shelf of anything. Top of the frige, top cupboard in the kitchen, even the top shelf in the TRAVEL trailer where we lived. I guess I'm just short. LOL My foster son used to hide things under the mattress. (SO obvious!) Don't forget to check: - inside the pockets/cuffs of clothes, rolled socks, fly of whitie tighties, in the drawer after they've been washed - inside toes of shoes and between felts and the boot (snow boots), under the lining of shoes in the closet - feminine hygiene boxes (well, maybe not for the Ds...but if he has a Kotex box in his room, check it! )- linings of coats/jackets, and inside shoulder pads - inside hollow figurines, vases, trophies When I have heard of people attempting to get past other people without them seeing what they were transporting I've heard it is easy to shove them up a coat sleeve (bulky coat, knit cuff, easy peasy hiding place), or inside snow boots (either at the toe or between the boot and the felts), or along the top of the shoulder. When wearing summer clothing check inside the bra, in the crotch of pants, or along the hip at the waistband. Know of one teen who sneaked his joints into a well known theme park by taping them in the space between the hemispheres of his gluteus maximus. Yeah, man, let me smoke one of THOSE! Ew.

Thank you all for waking me up! LOL I am so naive and would never have thought of half those hiding places. I was never a sneaky kid and most of the time B hides things right in plan sight. She wants to get caught. She loves boundries and payback to dear mommy. LOL

Barksum's post reminded me of Grad Nite at another well known theme park.
We were with a Catholic School and we were told we were not to bring cigarettes to the event. We were searched prior to getting on the bus to go to the park. I had to relinquish my Dramamine to a teacher until we got there. The girls in my class made some money off the guys though. A couple of the guys bought a box of tampons, slashed the top of the wrapper with a razor, removed the tampons, put the cigarettes in the applicators, and put the applicators back in the wrappers, and paid the girls to smuggle them in.

Hiding spots
In another sibling's room (one that is "healthy" so parents wouldn't bother to search)
Under the bathroom trashcan In suitcases stored in the top of closets Outside In the garage or any lesser used room of the house In the doghouse/ dog bed Inside books/notebooks Inside any tube that has a removeable cap (we hid things inside the swingset and curtain rods) Taped to the bottom of drawers Stuffed in the hem of the curtains Inside unpatched holes in the walls In laundry baskets full of dirty or clean clothes (whichever parent is unlikely to do something about themselves) Inside doll clothes In pillow cases, under pillows, under stuffed animals In fish tank Mary devious as a child mom to dsT (8), ddK (11), ddC (12) and dsD (14 and managed to sneak tobacco chew into residential treatment center and use it for 5 months before he confessed - because he'd run out). |

Inside of books and notebooks. In the linings of coats, backpacks and purses. In the pockets of out of season clothes hanging in the closet. In between clothes in drawers. Inside dolls and stuffed animals. INside lamps, figurines and anything else that can be hollowed out. I found lamps to be especially good (I had a little brother who stole from me) as you could peel off the paper or felt bottom and then it would often restick or you could reglue it. I also had some ceramic figures that were hollow. Also shampoo and lotion bottles that were not clear. Taped to the back of a headboard that is against a door.
Behind pictures on the wall. Along the wall if you can pull up a corner of the carpet you can put things under it. Under the trash bag in a trash can. My son likes to move large toys and throw up under them, also he removes the bottom drawer and uses the floor under it.
