Hi all,
I usually don't post very often, but I wanted to provide some info I just received on a new grant from the state of Florida. Actually it isn't new, but has just been expanded from state employees to include all Florida school district teachers, community college professors, state college profs. and water district management workers. The grant provides $5,000 for non-special needs adoptions and $10,000 for special needs adoptions. This year's enrollment deadline has passed, next year's will be August 1-September 30, 2008. The application is a simple (yeah, I know this is highly unusual) two page form. You also have to provide a certified copy of the finalization of adoption. The monies are alloted on a first come first served type bases. Each year the money is requested during the spring legislative session and a check is cut during the summer. When the money runs out they stop cutting checks and you can try again next year. Oh, and the grant is retroactive for adoptions from the year 2000. Google Florida Adoption Benefit Program, it should come right up. Hope this helps someone's finances for their next adoption!
