Handling a problem with C + chat excuse

This is costing me money, but I do think it's a good solution. Tonight is a Halloween party put on by C's favorite boardshop. It's held at a nightclub, and liquor is served, supposedly with strict carding. The owner "hires" C and some other younger kids to work the front door and take tickets, etc. I let C do this once, with the understanding that I'd be there to pick him up at midnight. He didn't show, he was nowhere to be found, I went in looking for him, and really didn't like what I saw - though they might card strictly at the bar, there's no control at all within the building - it's just no place for 15 and 16 year olds. Anyway, that night he was awol all night, and that started the downward spiral that sent him to Oregon. So that's background, and I don't want C anywhere near there. The problem is that though I'll say no, I know that if he's in town, he will be there - he'll sneak out, he'll lie, whatever it takes.

So my solution is that tonight I'm taking him and some friends to Knotts Scary Farm, which goes from 7 - 2. They can be free of parents in a semi-controlled environment. I was going to just sleep in the car waiting for them, and then decided to look around for a cheap motel room. Found one! I can relax and eat and sleep and watch tv or a movie (if I only had a laptop I could chat!), then get up at 1:45, pick them up and drive home. I'm on day 5 of an annoying cold, so just having those hours to relax sounds heavenly to me!

What a loving mother you are! What a creative solution! I am especially impressed that you are able to think outside the box like this on a cold. I hope you feel better and enjoy your time in the motel.

kay:

You are a great Mom! I was going to take the boys to a similar Scare Fest at Cedar Point untilo my property taxes jumped almost 40%! OUCH! Needless to say, the County Treasurer got out vacation fund.

If M had snuck out to a party where I knew there would be underage drinking (especially one sponsored by a business), I'd let him sneak there. Then, I'd call the cops and report a large underage drinking party at that location. You don't have to give your name, so C would never know YOU called. Then, if he got arrested, I'd let him sit in juvie overnight to think.

Terrible chat excuse but good mom plan. She'll just have to pay the chocolate penalty for missing chat.

look Kay, a problem I can actually solve! I didn't figure that many people were concerned with my new address so have only been giving it to people who ask but I'll be glad to send it to anyone that wants to send me cards, gifts, cowboys, donations, invest in the business I haven't bothered to figure out how to start yet.....
just let me know.

I'll be awaiting that chat chocolate.

Good job coming up with an alternative plan to set C up for success, K!

And please excuse me from chat. I am having board game night. Will provide brownies as the penalty, if my guests do not eat them all

Well, Lucy you can send me your address, maybe I will send you chocolate. I would offer to send a cowboy as there are several ranches around here, but I seem to remember you prefer the Hollywood type cowboys that have all thier teeth and don't smell like horses. Hmm, I will look around Dallas while I am there, I think there are more wanna be cowboys there. They bathe more than the real working ones around here. LOL

Shh-Lorraine, I have a good system going here with chat and chocolate.

And yes, I admit, I'm shallow. I like my with good teeth, good hygiene, and lots of energy

AmyAnne-hand over the brownies. Give your guests some tofu.
