So far only the social worker has met alone with me. I don't think she met alone with him. I am not getting the idea that she knows anything about attachment. She seemed to have an attitude that I (like most parents) know nothing. However, she is not running the program. She is just supposed to work with the families on plans for getting kids back into school. Duh, he has no issues in school! She does not want me to talk to him at all about eating and ignore it totally. So I will. The nutritionists disagree with her and overrulled her on two things, which shows me she is not as important as she thinks, since both of thier suggestions that she did not agree with are now being followed. A high calorie, high fat diet (instead of the regular diet the other kids eat, the social worker wants him eating exactly what the other kids eat) and they have to write down how much he actually eats and so do I. So the social worker says we must do this in secret so he doesn't know. LOL, what a mess! The psychiatrist in charge wants to first talk to the developmental ped. and the psychologist before he talks to M alone and he has not yet been able to do that. I talked to him and he seemed to understand more about RAD than the social worker and he will talk to me alone and me with M after he has meetings with the other doctors. (both of whom are very knowledgable about RAD and the fact that this kid will lie and manipulate)
However I think this weekend our time alone together has been good. We went to Target and walked around and got one small toy and some snacks and hangers for our room. We ate breakfast alone at a table (though in a dining room full of people) and the same with lunch and dinner. We played outside for a while after lunch and again after dinner. After Dinner we collected leaves and then did an art project with them, then we watched a power ranger movie together. We also did our chores this morning together. (each room has chores assigned) So it's been good for us to have this day together. We are planning to go to a church tomorow just the service and he only knows his brother's girlfriend there, and I actually think she won't be there, her mother is the preacher, but she is with her dad every other weekend. So the only person he knows will be behind the pulpit. So he will be sit with me and then we will come back and eat leftovers for lunch and have time together all afternoon.

Wow...sw seems uhm...not "wif it"?
I can see why they offer the ignoring his lack of eating approach but you've already been down that road. So I'm curious to see if they'll have you repeat stuff you've been doing already for a year. Like somehow they just have all those answers and you are just a parent that knows nothing. SIgh....how frustrating for you!!! Eating in public will at least get him out of danger of needing a feeding tube so that is a positive. But you can't spend a lifetime of eating out! I hope things take a different direction in their approaches. ((HUGS))
