Need Input
Hello,
I am new to the forum and new to foster to adopt. Last week I received an infant baby girl that came from horrendous situation. I would appreciate any input anyone could give me in regards to the decision I may be making in the future. Apparently this infant comes from a family that has many generations of incest in their family. It seems that there are many low functioning people in this family over the past three generations. The father is supposed to be a 3rd cousin but his relationship is not clearly defined and his paternity is being checked. He is low functioning as well. I have questions as to whether any of you have dealt with similiar situations? If so what is the outcome for the child? What questions should I be asking of my social workers? I am truley overwhelmed with all this info and just need someones input. Thanks |

First off, start practicing attachment based parenting. Lots of holding, feeding, eye contact etc. Stabalize her sleep schedule....beyond that I don't know.
My dd's bmom was sexually abused by her father until she was 11...then a year later her mom lost custody and she went into the foster care system, where she aged out. DD exhibited lack of privacy concerns, but no sexual acting out (yet, knock on wood). Be sure she is getting enough fat in her diet to asist with brain function and development. Beyond these, I suggest posting specific behaviors you witness and things that concern you....and I'm sure we'll all try to give advice as each thing comes up. Anyone else have anything???
