OT - Need halloween costume idea
We've been invited to a halloween party, and I have no idea for a costume. The hosts said in the invite that if you don't come in costume, they will put you in one. This is a VERY scary thought if you know this couple.
Bear in mind, that I have a rather voluptuous/curvy/fluffy figure, so some costumes just don't work for me. I thought of going as a zebra taking white sweats and putting black stripes on them and wearing my zebra shoes, but that seems kind of lame. Any suggestions??

One of you could borrow my old standby. Get a plain white t shirt and a permanent black marker. Write:
"I am a psychotic paranoid schizophrenic with homicidal tendencies. Ask me again what my costume is." You could also dress plainly in dark clothing, wear sunglasses and a name tag that says "Hi! I'm incognito." I saw recently in the Dresden Files book two that I thought were good-a police officer with a name tag that says Hi, I'm "An Authority Figure" and "An Innocent Bystander". Those are about all the noncostume costume ideas I can think of. If your husband is tall and thinnish, you guys could both pick up some black suits and black fedoras at a thrift store and go as the Blues Brothers. I'll probably think of others and post later. Take smarties (the candy) and glue them to an old pair of jeans/sweats. You are a smarty pants
Or get a pair of soccer shorts, socks, a sports jersey and one of those fun noodles for the pool. Put the noodle through the armholes and go as a foozball player ![]()

You could pin socks to your sweats and go as static cling.
I had a friend who did curlers and then she strapped a doll to each leg and went as a crazed stay at home mom. She carried a pot and basket of laundry and a baby bottle. My son once cut a u shape out of cardboard, painted it red and white like a magnet, and then glued little fuzzy chicks made of those puff ball things to it and he was a chick magnet. I have seen people glue those plastic solo cups to boxes painted red, blue or yellow to match the cups and then you are a lego block. One couple one had the cups glued upside down on one side and the other side put holes in with the cups inside the holes so they could actually fit thier two legos together side to side.

A muu-muu with a turban on your head, lots of clanky bead necklaces, lots of large jeweled rings. Madame Whatever Name You Wish, fortune teller.
My friend dressed all in white and was the abominable snow man. Personally, I like the white t-shirt and the black pen suggestion. ![]()

The paranoid schizophrenic idea is the best by far!
One year one of my kids dressed in dark clothes, carried a box of wheaties with a knife stuck into it and went as a "cereal killer." |

A few costume ideas:
1. Go to the Salvation Army, but a pair of tight jeans and a tube top. Buy a nasty wig and carry a bottle of booze. maybe black out a tooth or two: Britney Spears ten years from now!!! 2. Get a light pink (or peach) sweatshirt and a matching pair of shorts. Buy a Goodwill trench coat and you are a FLASHER!!! (For added fun, pin two sunflowers onto the sweatshirt at about nipple level) 3. If you or hubby is handy, go get a cheap second-hand card table. Cut a hole in the top about a foot in diameter. Get a tall cake pan. Put a tablecloth on the table with a hole cut to match the hole in the table. You can sit under the table, put your head through the hole, and put the cake pan over your head. When they lift the cake pan, BOO!!!! Severed head on a Table. Also, check out the costs of adult costumes at your local discount store. I've been really surprised at how affordable they are.

Mike those are hilarious.
Zebra, several years ago dh and I went to a party as an axe murderer his victim. We dressed him in an old plaid shirt and fatigue pants, work boots... bought a really ratty wig... he didn't shave for a couple days. I wore an old nightgown. I tucked one arm inside the night gown. we bought one of those fake arms at the novelty store. I tore the arm off the night gown and put it on the arm. I made bloody stumps out of paper mache that I attached to the fake arm, and my shoulder. Then we splashed fake blood all over both of us. He carried a fake axe with him too. Very gruesome, very fun!

My sister went as carbonation one year...tied blue colors helium balloons all over in her hair, wore pajamas that had bubbles printed on them
Another year she ratted her hair out and went as "a-frayed knot" (afraid not) You could be a bumblebee with the yellow sweatshirt/black duct tape and antennaes.

I had a friend that went as a bag of jelly beans. She used a clear huge garbage bag with arm holes and leg holes cut out and ribbon around her neck, she filled it with water balloons (filled with air) of all different colors. It was cute. Someone else did something similar with purple balloons and was a bunch of grapes. One year as an inside joke from a mission trip (we had a mom who thought we should all eat prunes to combat the altitude) we all wore black trash bags and went as prunes to a youth party.
